Alors que le tenant du titre Zoug commence sa saison sans les jumelles Marty, ce qui altère un peu ses premiers résultats, c'est Oberthurgau qui s'empare du commandement. Son Américaine Katherine Sweet repart cependant au pays pour raisons familiales (après avoir marqué 13 buts et 3 assistances en 7 journées). Sara Seiler la remplace alors et renforce encore la présence allemande dans une équipe qui compte déjà énormément sur Maritta Becker et Christina Fellner.
La surprise vient du promu Illnau-Effretikon, emmené par sa gardienne Florence Schelling et par l'attaquante Christine Meier, fraîchement honorée joueuse de l'année. Il obtient sa qualification dans la poule finale introduite par la nouvelle formule en allant gagner le dernier match chez son concurrent direct Lyss. L'entraîneur local Jürg Schilling essaie de ne tourner qu'à deux lignes mais épuise ainsi ses meilleurs éléments. Mené 2-1, Illnau-Effretikon égalise par Sandro Cattaneo et reprend l'avantage par Katrin Nabholz, une ancienne joueuse de Lyss, qui a marqué ses deux buts de la soirée pendant des pénalités coûteuses de l'Américaine Kerry Weiland.

Avec le retour à plein régime des sœurs Marty, Zoug redevient le favori incontestable. Cette équipe ne dispose pas des étrangères les plus fameuses avec les Françaises Noëlle Roy et Anne-Cécile Favarin (pas toujours présentes au cours de cette poule finale), mais elles sont toujours bien intégrées dans une formation compacte et équilibrée.

Les féminines de Lugano remporte leur premier titre de championne de Suisse. Elles comptent quatre internationales, dont la Canado-Suisse Laura Ruhnke, fille du célèbre entraîneur Kent Ruhnke. La capitaine depuis neuf ans, Iris Müller, annonce qu'elle veut quitter la compétition sur ce succès, mais demeurera à disposition du club. Le coach de l'équipe, l'ancien joueur de LNA Rick Tschumi, a prévu de rester, mais décidera finalement de passer la main.
Meilleure marqueuse des play-offs : Kiri Misikowetz (Lugano), 9 buts et 3 assists.
