Player of Jewish origin but raised in a secular household. Sicilian Catholic father and Jewish mother. His maternal grandparents, from Poland and Czechoslovakia, were Holocaust survivors.
First skated at the age of three. Grew up idolizing Wayne Gretzky and also liked Joe Sakic and Pavel Bure.
Not particularly big but a hard worker. Good shot and excellent offensive skills with a nose for the net. Intelligent player with a knack of being at the the right place at the right time. Sometimes inconsistent without the puck. Used on the wing and as a center.
Thought Chris Pronger probably was the toughest competitor he ever played against.

Joueur d'origine juive par sa mère (son père était sicilien) mais élevé dans un foyer non pratiquant. Ses grands-parents maternels, originaires de Pologne et de Tchécoslovaquie, sont des rescapés de l'Holocauste.
Découvrit le patinage à trois ans avant de devenir fan inconditionnel de Wayne Gretzky, bien sûr, et de s'inspirer de Joe Sakic ou Pavel Bure.
De gabarit raisonnable (1,75m, 84kgs) mais travailleur acharné. Doté d'un bon tir et d'un indéniable talent offensif, particulièrement inspiré devant le but. Joueur intelligent, utilisé soit à l'aile soit au centre, capable d'être situé pile où il faut, au moment opportun. Parfois un peu négligent avec le palet.
Répond "Chris Pronger" quand on lui demande quel a été l'adversaire le plus difficile à ses yeux.
