Son of Czech parents. His father Jan Fiala played in Switzerland for many years. An offensive forward with game-breaking potential. Respectable and shifty skater with quick legs and explosive acceleration. Quick and agile.
Slick skill-set with soft hands, good stickhandling and brilliant puck-control. Wealthy arsenal of shooting tools. Not known for his defensive play as a junior. Sometimes a bit too cocky and impusive.
He became just the third player in history to play in the Under-18, Under-20 and Men’s World Championships in the same year. The only two players to do it previously were Andrei Kostitsyn and Vadim Karaga, who played all three tournaments for Belarus in 2003.

Fils de parents tchèques installés en Suisse. Son père Jan a en effet joué de nombreuses années en LNA. Kevin lui-même est un attaquant offensif capable de changer un match lui seul. Son potentiel révélé très tôt le distingue par un patinage efficace au service d'accélérations fulgurantes.
Rapide, agile, redoutable en un contre un avec ses mains en or, il possède une panoplie technique élargie et tout un arsenal de tirs. Manque d'implication défensive dans ses années juniors. Parfois un peu trop impulsif et arrogant.
Un des trois joueurs de l'histoire, avec les Biélorusses Andrei Kostitsyn et Vadim Karaga, à avoir disputé la même année les championnats du monde senior, U20 et U18.
Pendant sa carrière NHL il investit dans une start-up spécialisée dans la prophylaxie, soucieux de préserver son corps.
