Childhood friend of Jack Eichel and Ryan Donato. His father Garry played NCAA hockey.
Unpredictable with the puck on his stick. Can deliver unheard-of passes. Not the best skater, but he has great speed skills, both in the brain and in the hands. Tough to play against because he uses his small stature at his advantage.
His shot is not outstanding, but he learnt to position himself in the offensive zone and is a great scoring threat.
Though he was QMJHL best player in 2015 and best scorer in 2015 and 2016, he got only drafted in the fifth round and was never called into USA junior national teams.
When he also blossomed in the NHL, he eventually put on USA jersey and led the team to 2021 World Championship bronze medal while being voted into the tournament All-Star team.

Ami d'enfance de Jack Eichel et Ryan Donato. Son père Garry a joué au hockey en université.
Imprévisible avec le palet dans la crosse, capable de passes d'exception dont lui seul a le secret. Rapide dans l'exécution, sans être le meilleur patineur. Ses demi-tours notamment sont très soudains. Il sait parfaitement utiliser son petit gabarit (1m78) à son avantage.
Il n'est pas doté d'un tir fabuleux, mais il a appris à bien se placer pour être un danger offensif permanent.
Meilleur joueur de LHJMQ en 2015 mais aussi meilleur marqueur en 2015 et 2016, il n'a pourtant été choisi qu'au cinquième tour de la draft et n'a jamais été appelé en équipe nationale junior américaine.
Lorsqu'il a aussi éclaté en NHL, il a été sélectionné par les États-Unis et les a conduits au bronze en étant élu dans l'équipe-type du Mondial 2021.
Reconnaissable parce qu'il joue souvent avec la langue sortie.
