Began playing ice hockey at the age of five. Averaged size player with a lot of smartness and creativity. Styleful skater but not particularly fast. Used on all three forward positions. Good playmaker, skater and stick technique. Confident with the puck and fine hockey sense.
Not a natural finisher. Competed in inline hockey and was part of the Slovenian national team that finished fifth at the 2010 World Championships. A fixture on the Slovenian team.
Suspended for eight months after being tested positive with a performance-enhancing drug (fenoterol) during the 2018 Olympics.
Had cervical spine surgery in April 2019.

Débute le hockey dans sa Slovénie natale à l'âge de cinq ans. Joueur de taille moyenne mais intelligent et imaginatif, patineur élégant bien que peu rapide. Ce profil lui vaut d'être employé aux trois postes de l'attaque car sa technique et sa confiance puck en crosse en font un bon passeur. Pas très efficace devant la cage en revanche.
Cadre de ses équipes nationales de hockey sur glace et, pendant un temps, de roller-hockey puisqu'il termina cinquième des mondiaux 2010 de la discipline avec la Slovénie.
Suspendu huit mois pour un contrôle positif au fénotérol (anabolisant) constaté pendant les JO 2018.
Opéré d'une hernie cervicale en avril 2019.
