Skilled blueliner with excellent offensive instincts. Fine on ice vision.
Often used as a powerplay quarterback. Good at handling the puck with aplomb.
Strong skater and rather mobile laterally. Very small for an NHL defenseman (175 cm, 73 kg) and could tire fast.
Started his pro career in Finland. Joined the NHL in 2007 when he was chosen as the best defenseman in the SM-liiga and had a good World Championship with Team Canada.
Also played three years in Switzerland, one year in the KHL and his five last years in Sweden. Champion with Växjö in 2015.
Announced his retirement on May 21, 2018.
