Born in the Swedish speaking town of Pietarsaari. Hot-tempered goaltender. Known to play well under pressure. Very good stickhandler. Could read the play well. Sometimes out of position due to his aggressive playing style. Notorious for his flaring temper and outspoken nature. Never sugarcoated things and was always honest. Never afraid to confront and criticize hockey journalists.
Won four league championships in Finland with TPS Turku (1995, 1999, 2000 and 2001).
Also Swedish champion 2003 with Frölunda and Russian champion 2009 with Ak Bars Kazan.
Announced his retirement on May 12, 2014. Became a goaltending coach for TPS Turku. Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Né dans la ville suédophone de Pietarsaari. Gardien au tempérament bouillant, connu pour bien jouer sous la pression. Excellent maniement de la crosse et très bonne lecture du jeu. Parfois hors de position en raison de son style de jeu agressif. Son caractère enflammé et son franc-parler étaient notoires. Il ne mâchait jamais ses mots et n'avait jamais peur de confronter et de critiquer les journalistes de hockey.
Quadruple champion de Finlande avec le TPS Turku (1995, 1999, 2000 and 2001).
Également champion de Suède en 2003 avec Frölunda et champion de Russie en 2009 avec Ak Bars Kazan.
Il a annoncé sa retraite le 12 mai 2014 et est devenu entraîneur de gardiens pour le TPS Turku.
2,79 buts encaissés en moyenne par match et 89,9 % d'arrêts en 100 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL.
Intronisé parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijona, numéro 243).
