Father of Mattias Nørstebø. Uncommonly, Svein Enok (180 cm, 85 kg) was actually a bit taller than his son.
Nørstebø Sr. started with ice hockey as a child at the end of the 1970s for Leik in Korsvegen (Melhus municipality).
Defenceman with outstanding composure and an excellent understanding of the game.
Member of the only Norvegian champion team from Lillehammer in 1994 (the Olympic year for that city).
First player from Trøndelag (Trondheim region in the center of Norway) to get the Gullpucken as the player of the year in Norway (1999). All previous winners came from the more traditional ice hockey areas in the south.
Retired in 2004, but made short comebacks to help Trondheim clubs at key moments: in 2006 to help TIK to stay at elite level, in 2010 to help Rosenborg to move up into top division, and at 44 in 2016 to help new club Nidaros to move up from third level (2. divisjon) to second level (1. divisjon).

Nørstebø senior a commencé le hockey enfant à la fin des années 1970 pour le club sportif Leik à Korsvegen (municipalité de Melhus).
Ce défenseur au calme exceptionnel, souverain et sûr avec le palet, se distinguait aussi par son excellente compréhension du jeu.
Membre de la seule équipe de Lillehammer championne de Norvège en 1994 (l'année olympique pour cette ville).
C'est le premier joueur du Trøndelag (la région de Trondheim au centre de la Norvège) à avoir reçu le Gullpucken, le palet d'or de joueur norvégien de l'année, en 1999. Tous les précédents vainqueurs venaient des zones où le hockey est plus traditionnellement implanté au sud du pays.
Il a pris sa retraite en 2004, mais il a rechaussé les patins plusieurs fois pour aider les clubs sucessifs de Trondheim à des moments-clés : en 2006 pour maintenir le TIK dans l'élite, en 2010 pour permettre à Rosenborg d'y monter, et enfin à 44 ans en 2016 pour donner un coup de pouce au nouveau club Nidaros et le faire monter du troisième niveau (2. divisjon) au deuxième niveau national (1. divisjon).
