Scottish National League

Une patinoire a ouvert à Paisley en avril 1940 avec 4500 places en tribune et une nouvelle équipe - les Pirates - se joint donc aux six équipes qui existaient avant-guerre. Une autre patinoire de taille identique était d'ailleurs sur le point d'ouvrir à Aberdeen, mais elle a été endommagée par un bombardement allemand en juillet 1940 et a été démolie après-guerre pour construire un supermarché.
