Alors que Dunedin apparaît à présent sous l'intitulé de "Phoenix", une nouvelle entité fait son apparition dans la ligue : le Mako d'Auckland (photo : James Allan Photography). En vue à la fois de participer au développement des jeunes joueurs locaux, mais aussi d'augmenter le temps de jeu, le projet "Mako" est une équipe non alignée dans le championnat, composée d'une sélection des juniors du pays avec quelques vétérans pour les cadrer. Les matchs du Mako, qui ne comptent ni pour le classement ni pour les statistiques, apparaîtront en italique.

La situation épidémique a entaché la fin de saison en Nouvelle-Zélande. Les derniers matchs n'ayant pu se jouer, la ligue a conservé les équilibres au classement par des victoires par forfait, mais ce qui restera finalement vain. Les play-offs ne pourront toujours pas se tenir, et le titre de champion ne sera pas attribué.
