Born and raised in Moscow, but accepted to play in Saratov (570 miles south) before coming back to Moscow again. Had good hockey sense and tried to be responsible defensively.
Played 603 games and scored 722 (416+306) career points. Represented Soviet Union 15 times (8 goals).
Was still active as a player when he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2000 and died two weeks before his 38th birthday. Buried in the Vostryakovskoye cemetery in Moscow. Some sources state his date of death as May 31.

Un vrai Moscovite qui a toutefois accepté le déracinement jusque Saratov, à 850 km au sud, pour pouvoir revenir jouer au Spartak. Possédait le sens du jeu et faisait preuve d'une application défensive notoire.
Plus de 700 points en carrière (416+306) pour 603 matches, avec en point d'orgue 15 apparitions pour la Sbornaïa (huit buts).
Jouait encore quand lui fut découverte sa léucémie en 2000. Il mourut très peu de temps après, avant même ses 38 ans. Repose au cimetière de Vostryakovskoye, à Moscou bien entendu. Certaines sources situent sa mort au 31 mai.
