Born to German parents who had immigrated to USA in 1913.
The sandy haired goaltender enjoyed a 20 seasons playing career, mostly as a backup goaltender. Served as a rink manager in Worcester and skate ship boss in the early 1950s.
He later became a referee, blowing the whistle between 1955-61.
Had a memorable day when he played his only NHL game. He had a shutout in the EHL, a 4-0 win for Boston Olympics against the Atlanta City Seagulls in the afternoon on February 12, 1960. Later that night he earned a tie in his only NHL game against the Montreal Canadiens (3-3).
Made a brief comeback in 1962 as a player.

Ce gardien aux cheveux cendrés a connu une carrière de 20 saisons, essentiellement comme gardien remplaçant.
Il était directeur de patinoire à Worcester et a géré un magasin spécialisé dans le patinage dans les années 1950.
Il est devenu plus tard arbitre, maniant le sifflet entre 1955 et 1961.
1 partie en NHL pour les Bruins de Boston, avec 3 buts encaissés en 21 tirs (85,7%) dans un 3-3 contre les Canadiens de Montréal le 12 février 1960.
Ce fut une journée mémorable puisqu'il avait obtenu un blanchissage 4-0 pour les Boston Olympics contre les Atlanta City Seagulls plus tôt dans l'après-midi !
Il a fait un bref retour en tant que joueur en 1962.
