Born in Paris, France, but grew up in Geneva, Switzerland.
Played ice hockey while studying, both for Cambridge University in 1921/22 and HC Rosey Gstaad 1922/23.
Was very well educated and studied at universities in Geneva and Cambridge. Later earned a degree in political science from Paris.
Worked as the secretary general at the court of arbitration and then at the chambre of commerce in Paris between 1929 and 1939.
In 1942 he went to Washington where he was part of the Swiss legation.
In 1947 he was transfered to Berne, working as the protocol chief at the federal political department.
On May 7, 1954 he was designated as the Swiss minister in Cairo, Egypt, as well as Ethiopia.
Died at the Anglo-Swiss hospital in Cairo after complications from surgery.

Né à Paris, en France, mais a grandi à Genève, en Suisse.
Il jouait au hockey sur glace durant ses études, à l'université de Cambridge en 1921/22 puis au HC Rosey Gstaad en 1922/23.
Il était très érudit et a étudié dans les universités de Genève et Cambridge. Il obtint plus tard un diplôme supérieur en sciences politiques à Paris.
Il travailla comme secrétaire général de la court d'arbitrage puis à la chambre de commerce de Paris entre 1929 et 1939.
En 1942 il arriva à Washington où il prit part à la légation suisse.
En 1947 il fut transféré à Berne, où il travailla comme chef du protocole au département de politique fédérale.
Le 5 mai 1954 il fut désigné comme ministre suisse au Caire, en Égypte, ainsi qu'Éthiopie.
Décédé à l'hôpital anglo-suisse du Caire après des complications suite à une opération.
