Allround athlete who mostly excelled at ice hockey and water polo. Very short player being only ca 5-4.
In 1937 he was suspended for a year from the Romanian national team together with Constantin Cantacuzino, Jules Radian, Paul Anastasiu and Bob Petrovici.
Nicknamed „Gică“, as he owned the first ever Chinese restaurant in Bucharest, named „Fu-Chang“. It was situated in the Majestic passage (Passajul Majestic), a busy pedestrian passage in a district where the powerful noble Ghica family had been landowners for centuries. In July 1942 the health authorities fined Buia 20,000 lei (around $110) for not complying with the hygiene laws. When they issued the fine, they wrote: „he maintains his establishment in a state of total dirt.“
First hockey coach for Steaua Bucureşti and one of the founding members of this section.
Developed many future Romanian national team players and coaches like Mihai Flamaropol, Ion Lörincz and Zoltán Czaka.
