An allround athlete who excelled both in hockey and baseball. Tough he was born in the USA he grew up in Toronto and represented Canada.
Had a silver plate in his head and always played with a helmet due to a double skull fracture sustained in a junior game 1953. Talented penalty killer.
Named as the best forward of the 1958 World Championships. Also a very good baseball player.
Scored 797 (307+490) career points in 1362 games.
Holds the distinction of being the last playing-coach in the NHL (1970).
Retired in 1974 and later moved to Wallingford, Connecticut.

Il possédait une plaque en métal dans sa tête et jouait toujours avec un casque en raison d'une double fracture du crâne subie dans un match junior en 1953. Talentueux en infériorité numérique.
Désigné meilleur attaquant des Mondiaux de 1958. Également très bon joueur de baseball.
Il collecta 797 points (307+490) en 1362 rencontres dans sa carrière.
Il eut la distinction d'être le tout dernier entraîneur-joueur dans la NHL (en 1970).
Retraité en 1974 et déménagea ensuite à Wallingford, Connecticut.
