He was born in Texas while his father, a Canadian, was working for an American oil company. Grew up in Canada, but was the first native of Texas to play in the NHL.
Robust playing style and a hard hitting defenseman with decent size. Pretty decent puck transporter. Retired in 1981.
Acquired a real estate brokers license while he played hockey.

Passed away on July 11, 2019 after a battle with chronic kidney disease.

Né au Texas bien que d'origine canadienne car son père travaillait dans le Lone Star State pour une compagnie pétrolière. Christie retourna bientôt au Canada mais reste néanmoins le premier natif de l'État à avoir joué en NHL.
Joueur costaud au style sans fioriture, porté sur la mise en échec. Pas maladroit non plus avec le palet. Prit sa retraite en 1981.
Il avait prévu l'avenir puisqu'il obtint un agrément d'agent immobilier pendant sa carrière de joueur.
116 points marqués (15+101) en 412 parties de saison régulière de NHL.
Décédé le 11 juillet 2019 d'une maladie chronique des reins.
