Evgeni Dadonov

Dadonov, Evgeni Anatolievich

Position : RW

12-03-1989 Chelyabinsk, URS (RUS)

Youth team / club formateur : Traktor Chelyabinsk

Small winger with excellent puck skills, a lot of speed and a very good shot.
Left his hometown Chelyabinsk to North America at 20 before being physically and mentally mature. Came back after 10 goals and 10 assists in 55 NHL games with the Florida Panthers.
He publicly talked about getting Ukrainian passport to play for that country while playing in Donbass before being eventually called into Russian national team in 2014 and becoming world champion.
His career got a sudden rise at 25 when SKA coach Slava Bykov put him on a line with Artemi Panarin and Vadim Shipachyov before season 2014/15. The three players have a similar style - creative and mobile - and find each other very quickly. Dadonov scored 15 goals to win KHL play-offs as his line's finisher, then had stellar play with the same partners in two consecutive World Championships.
Won two Gagarin Cups in 2015 and 2017. Went back to Florida afterwards.
As a free agent in 2020, he chose to sign in Ottawa but had a difficult year far from his pregnant wife who remained in Florida with their children. Moved to Vegas next year.
