Scottish-born Marshall Darling was a solid player with good leadership skills.
He came to Alberta in Canada with his family at a young age.
Played his junior hockey for Edmonton Maple Leafs in the mid-1930s.
Continued his playing career in Edmonton and Lethbridge.
Outside of hockey he joined the Edmonton Fire Department in 1941 and served there for 37 years with a year away for service in the Canadian Navy. 
Known as an outstanding athlete with a passion for golf, and curling besides hockey.
Also worked as an hockey coach. Captained Canada at the 1950 World Championships.

Né en Écosse, Marshall Darling était un joueur solide avec de bonnes capacités de leadership.
Il est arrivé en Alberta au Canada avec sa famille dans son enfance.
Il a fait son hockey junior pour les Edmonton Maple Leafs au milieu des années 1930.
Sa carrière de joueur s'est déroulée à Edmonton et Lethbridge.
Il a rejoint les pompiers d'Edmonton en 1941 et a travaillé pour eux pendant 37 ans avec un trou d'une année pour son service militaire dans la marine canadienne. 
Connu comme un athlète exceptionnel avec une passion pour le golf et le curling en plus de hockey.
A aussi été entraîneur. Capitaine du Canada aux championnats du monde 1950.
