Grew up admiring the play of Wayne Gretzky. A towering defender who was strong in front of the goal, keeping his zone clear. Powerful skater and solid stickhandler. Rarely got involved in the attack.
Liked to get involved in physical battles. Used his long reach to his advantage. Had a strong positional play and often killed penalties.
European Under 18 champion 1989. Left Perm to Moscow in 1990 and became Russian champion 1991 and 1992 with Dynamo.
Also spent three years in North America and one in Finland before coming back to Perm in 1997. Retired in 2006.

Admirateur de Wayne Gretzky, ce défenseur géant de 198 cm savait neutraliser son enclave et nettoyer sa zone. Patineur puissant et assez sûr de sa technique de crosse, il s'aventurait rarement à l'offensive.
Aimait les duels physiques où son envergure faisait merveille. Intelligent dans son placement, il était fréquemment employé en infériorité numérique.
Champion d'Europe des moins de 18 ans 1989. Il a quitté Perm pour Moscou en 1990 où il est devenu champion de Russie 1991 et 1992 avec le Dynamo.
Il a aussi passé trois ans en Amérique du Nord et un an en Finlande avant de revenir en 1997 à Perm, jusqu'à sa retraite en 2006.
5 points marqués (1+4) en 30 parties de saison régulière de NHL avec Ottawa.
