Petr Franěk

Franěk, Petr

Position : G

06-04-1975 Most, TCH (CZE)

Youth team / club formateur : HC Litvínov.

Born in Most but began his playing career in Litvínov where his father introduced him to the game. Grew up idolizing Jiří Holeček and Dominik Hašek.
Played the angles well, liked to stay in the crease. Wandered very little. Played the puck well. Hard to beat on the glove side and was able to burn the shooters all the time.
Quick reflexes and few rebounds frustrated many opposing shooters. Thrived on heavy workload. Upbeat personality and an excellent person to have around in the dressing room.
Was drafted in the NHL by Québec Nordiques in 1993. Eventually tried his luck over in North America, but returned back to Europe after three seasons. Announced his retirement on April 28, 2014.
