Was the top scorer at the 1954 World Championships, but the award was handed out to Vsevolod Bobrov instead (8 goals).
When the Canadians pointed out that Galand in fact had 16 goals, the Swedish organizers bought a replica of the trophy and handed it to Galand.
Scored more than 500 career points in over 400 games.
Had several pro offers but turned them down. Had a long playing career that ended in 1972.
Also a very good baseball player who played as a shortstop for three years in the Brooklyn Dodgers system.
There he played alongside five time MLB All-Star Maury Wills for one season.
Was a firefighter for many years in Toronto and retired from there in 1984.

Quand les Canadiens firent remarquer qu’il avait marqué 16 buts, les organisateurs suédois lui ont offert une réplique du trophée.
Il a marqué plus de 500 points dans une carrière de plus de 400 parties.
A refusé de nombreuses offres de contrats pros. Sa longue carrière se termine en 1972.
Fut aussi un très bon joueur de baseball qui joua arrêt-court pendant 3 ans aux Dodgers de Brooklyn, dont une avec Maury Wills, 5 fois joueur étoile de la MLB.
A été pompier pendant des années à Toronto et a arrêté en 1984.
