Right-shooting two-way center with good size (187 cm, 97 kg) and nice speed. He can win battles with or without the puck, even in tight areas.
He was never selected in any national junior team and was at first an inconspicuous player on Kärpät fourth line while studying industrial engineering at Oulu university in he meantime. But in 2023/24 he was promoted into third line with legend Marko Anttila on his wing. He had a breakthrough season and Jukka Jalonen called him in national team. He liked his versatility and ability to play a strong physical game under pressure so much that he picked him for the World Championships. Then Hyry signed a two-way NHL contract with the Dallas Stars.

Centre de beau gabarit (187 cm, 97 kg), rapide, qui tire de la droite. Fiable dans les deux sens du jeu, il gagne des duels avec ou sans palet, y compris dans des espaces réduits.
Jamais appelé dans la moindre sélecion nationale de jeunes, il était un joueur discret de la quatrième ligne des Kärpät qui étudiait en parallèle le génie industriel à l'université d'Oulu. Mais en 2023/24 il fut promu en troisième ligne avec la légende Marko Anttila à ses côtés et réussit à percer. Jukka Jalonen l'appela en équipe de Finlande et apprécia tellement sa polyvalence et sa capacité à pratiquer un bon jeu physsique sous pression qu'il le sélectionna aux championnats du monde. Hyry signa alors un contrat NHL à deux volets avec les Dallas Stars.
