Born in the the small town of Humppila, located in the province of Southern Finland not far from Forssa. Formed a dangerous line together with Raimo Summanen and Petri Skriko. At the 1982 World Junior Championships the trio set a record (since broken) for most points by a line in one tournament (46).
Joined Edmonton Oilers in the NHL for a three-game tryout after the 1985/86 Finnish season. Had an assist in his first NHL game and three assists in three games.
Represented Finland 106 times, scoring 62 points (27+35). Played 594 career league games, scoring 646 (237+409) points. Retired in 1998. Later worked as a club president and general manager.
NHL totals: 3-0-3-3. Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Natif de la petite ville de Humppila, pas loin de Forssa dans la province de Finlande méridionale (Etelä-Suomen Lääni), il forma dans sa jeunesse une ligne de feu avec Raimo Summanen et Petri Skriko. Ensemble, les trois garçons détinrent pendant un temps le record du nombre de points inscrits pendant un seul championnat du monde junior, en l'occurrence 46 lors de l'édition 1982.
Rejoignit les Oilers en 1986 pour une série d'essais. Cela lui valut de disputer trois matches en NHL, pour trois assists.
106 sélections internationales pour 62 points (27+35). 646 points au total (237+409) en 594 matches de carrière.
Prit sa retraite en 1998 avant d'endosser des fonctions dans le direction d'Ilves Tampere.
Honoré parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijonat, n°138).
