Irrational player with great skating and stickhandling. Popular among fans for his entertaining and crowdpleasing style of play. Was also responsible defensively and his two-way play was appreciated by his coaches. Sometimes held on to the puck too much.
Known as "Ruotsin tappajana" (Swedish Killer), for his ability to always perform at his best against the Nordic rivals. Scored 311 (186+125) career league points in 267 games. Top league scorer in 1967. Represented Finland 196 times (71+49). Retired late in 1977 and then became a hockey coach.
His jersey number (7) has been retired by Lukko Rauma.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Joueur imprévisible, très bon patineur et au maniement de la crosse. Son style le rendait très populaire auprès des fans mais il n'oubliait pas non plus de défendre, ce qui le rendait aussi apprécié des entraîneurs, qui étaient un peu moins contents quand il s'accrochait trop longtemps au palet.
Surnommé le "tueur de Suédois" pour ses stats particulièrement flatteuses dès qu'il jouait contre les grands rivaux.
311 points (186+125) en 267 matches de championnat, meilleur buteur du championnat finlandais en 1967.
196 sélections nationales (120 points, 71+49). Devenu, après sa retraite en 1977, un entraîneur renommé.
Son maillot numéro 7 a été retiré par le Lukko Rauma.
Intronisé parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijona, numéro 50).
