Born in Millom about 57 miles (91km) from Liverpool. His father was born in Manchester and his mother in Liverpool. Jack Kilpatrick moved to Canada at the age of four. Played in Prince Albert before coming to England in 1936. Earned a spot on the 1936 Olympic team thanks to some fine performances that season. Was the youngest Englishman to win an Olympic gold medal in 1936. Used mainly as a checking forward who saw limited ice time during his time in England.
Moved back to Canada in 1937. Retired in 1952. Worked in the communication business. Passed away of ventricular arrhythmia and myocardial infarct (heart attack) at Kootenay lake district hospital in Nelson, BC.
Inducted into the British Hockey Hall of Fame.

Né à Millom, à 90 kilomètres de Liverpool, dont sa mère était originaire tandis que son père était mancunien. La famille Kilpatrick s'installe au Canada en 1921. Jack est donc davantage canadien que britannique et c'est naturellement qu'il se met au hockey pour l'équipe de Prince Albert, avant de retourner en Angleterre en 1936. S'engage chez les Wembley Lions et fait si bien qu'à même pas 19 ans, il est sélectionné dans l'escouade olympique du Royaume-Uni pour les JO 1936. C'est bien entendu le benjamin du groupe et son temps de jeu comme attaquant défensif est limité.
Retourne au Canada à 20 ans et arrête de jouer au hockey à 35 ans. Travaille dans l'industrie des communications. Décédé d'un infarctus du myocarde à 72 ans, à l'hôpital du lac de Kootenay en Colombie-Britannique.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey britannique.
