Talented forward who had a stellar four-year junior career with the Toronto St.Michael’s Majors in the early 1950s. Coming out of juniors he had a fine season with University of Toronto, landing him an NHL-contract with Toronto Maple Leafs, playing one game for them, against New York Rangers (1-2) on March 12, 1955.
While being property of the Leafs he was loaned to their farm club Pittsburgh Hornets (AHL), scoring a goal against the Leafs in an exhibition game. Spent the next four seasons playing for Kitchener Waterloo Dutchmen, earning him a trip to the 1956 Olympics. Retired in 1959, only as a 25 year-old. He was a player who caught many goalies by surprise with well-timed shots from way outside. Scored a total of 292 (152+140) points in 300 career games.

Attaquant redoutable dont les stats affolantes enregistrées lors de ses années universitaires avec les Toronto St.Michael's Majors et l'Université de Toronto lui valurent dès sa sortie un contrat NHL chez les Maple Leafs. Il ne jouera qu'un seul match sous leur chandail, contre les Rangers le 12 mars 1955 (défaite 1-2).
Les Leafs l'enverront ensuite quelque temps en prêt dans leur équipe-ferme, les Pittsburgh Hornets, pour lesquels il marquera même un but en amical contre les... Leafs. Partira vite représenter les Kitchener Waterloo Dutchmen pendant quatre saisons, avec pour point culminant une participation (prolifique) aux JO 1956. Puis il arrête soudain le hockey, âgé de seulement de 25 ans. Knox était ce type d'attaquant que toute équipe aimerait avoir, dont les lancers précis envoyés depuis des positions inattendues surprenaient tous les gardiens. Tant pis. Il partit sur un bilan de 292 points (152+140) en 300 matches.
