Fluent in Dutch as both his parents originated from the Netherlands. Solid physical player who had to adjust to the playing style in Europe when he played there. He cut down on his penalties and put the emphasis on more skating and puck carrying.
He played five games in the 1981 World Championships until he injured his hip in a collision with Erich Kühnhackl. He missed the rest of the tournament.
Went on to live in Edmonton, Alberta, operating Famko Lawn Service Inc.

Un des nombreux "Canado-Néerlandais" importés en masse par la fédération des Pays-Bas à la fin des années 1970 mais lui n'était pas un import artificiel. Immigré au Canada de première génération, hij ooit sprak néerlandais en arrivant.
C'est son style de jeu qui a demandé une adaptation. Par rapport à l'AHL, il dut se calmer sur les pénalités et se recentrer sur le patinage et la relance.
Il participa à cinq matches aux championnats du monde 1981 jusqu'à ce qu'il se blesse à la hanche dans une collision avec Erich Kühnhackl. Il manqua la suite du tournoi.
Son séjour en Europe fut bref. Il retourna dans l'Alberta, à Edmonton, où il dirigea une entreprise d'engazonnage/jardinage, Famko Lawn Service.
