Won the Memorial Cup in 1937, Allan Cup in 1938 and 1940. Also won the 1939 World Championships.
Formed a great line in junior hockey with Alf Pike and Johnny McCreedy. Tried out with the Boston Bruins in the NHL prior to the 1938/39 season.
Moved to Sarnia, ON, in 1949 as a playing coach. After his playing career he played curling and golf. He even won several senior men’s golf titles. Worked as an office manager in the offices of Stonehouse, Marentette and Goodfellow. Still skated four to five times a week at the age of 94.
Inducted into Sports Hall of Fames in three different provinces (British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario).

Vainqueur de plusieurs compétitions amateurs canadiennes, la Memorial Cup (1937) et les Allan Cup de 1938 et 1940. Champion du monde en 1939.
En junior, il compléta le trio d'Alf Pike et Johnny McCreedy, deux futurs NHLers. Kowcinak fut mis à l'essai par les Bruins de Boston avant la saison 1938-1939.
Devenu entraîneur-joueur à Sarnia, dans l'Ontario, à partir de 1949. Une fois qu'il prit congé du hockey, on le vit jouer au curling ou arpenter les greens de golf. Il fut même lauréat de plusieurs compétitions vétérans dans ce dernier jeu.
Professionnellement, il fut cadre et chef d'équipe pour plusieurs entreprises ou collectivités. Quelques semaines avant sa mort, il patinait encore trois fois par semaine.
Introduit aux Halls of Fame de Colombie-Britannique, du Manitoba et de l'Ontario.
