Not very big physically, but very smart and a strong skater.
Also good at football and skiing. Childhood friend of Jarmo Mäkitalo and Kari Eloranta.
Became a very popular player in Sweden where he played four years with Leksand and four years with Färjestad.
Elitserien best goalscorer 1981 and 1985. Swedish champion 1986 and 1988 with FBK.
Represented Finland 64 times, scoring 28 points (19+9).
Died in a boating accident at his summer house. His body was found three days later.
In November 2017 a statue of him was unveiled in Lahti. His number 13 has been retired by local club (Pelicans).
His wife Erika was a swimmer. His daughter Emma Laine was a world class tennis player, reaching the rank of 50 in the world.

Il joua quatre saisons pour Leksand et quatre saisons pour Färjestad, devenant très populaire en Suède.
Meilleur buteur d'Elitserien 1981 et 1985. Champion de Suède 1986 et 1988 avec le FBK.
64 sélections en équioe de Finlande, 28 points (19+9).
Décédé d'un accident de bateau dans sa résidence d'été. Son corps a été retrouvé trois jours plus tard.
En novembre 2017 une statue à son effigie a été érigée à Lahti, dont le club local (les Reipas, aujourd'hui appelés Pelicans) a retiré son numéro 13.
Sa femme Erika pratiquait la natation. Sa fille Emma Laine fut une joueuse de tennis, classée au 50e rang mondial.
Honoré parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijonat, n°241).
