Probably the most dangerous and feared shooter on the European continent before WW I.
Had tremendous velocity on his shots, firing away from every possible angle.
Very versatile player who was used on all three forward positions.
Was in the German air force during WW I and received the Iron Cross for bravery in 1914 at the Russian front. He sustained serious injuries when his plane made a nose dive from 250 m and crashlanded on March 5, 1918. He shattered several bones in his legs which put an end to a marvellous hockey career.
He eventually recovered fully and could walk normally again.
Was an international hockey referee. Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.

Il possédait une incroyable vélocité dans ses lancers, capable de marquer depuis des angles impossibles.
Joueur insaisissable qui était utilisé dans les trois positions offensives.
Il était dans l'armée de l'air allemande durant la Première guerre mondiale et reçut la médaille du mérite et de la bravoure en 1914 sur le front russe. Il contracta une sérieuse blessure quand son avion piqua de 250 mètres et s'écrasa le 5 mars 1918. Il se brisa plusieurs os aux jambes, ce qui mit fin à sa magnifique carrière de hockeyeur.
Il parvint tout de même à se soigner et put ensuite remarcher normalement.
Il fut arbitre international. Intronisé au Hall of Fame du hockey allemand.
