The youngest of three hockey playing Mazza brothers who represented Italy at the 1924 European Championships.
Pio Mazza was small and little stocky, but sturdy. He was the most gifted athlete of the three Mazza brothers.
He still played hockey and was one of the organizers for the newly formed Juventus Torino team in the early 1940s together with brother Luigi, but at that point he had shifted to defense.
After a few years of inactivity he made a comeback in 1952 for HC Torino at the age of 46.
Just like his older brother Guido he was also an excellent football player and played alongside his brother on April 20, 1924 against Inter Milan (2-2) in his only appearance for Juventus.
A third sport that he excelled at was skiing, as he was one of the top skiers in the country.
A fourth sport was speedskating that he was very good at. In 1925, he finished in fifth place (1000 m & 5000) at the national championships.
A fifth sport that he mastered was tennis. As a member of Tennis Club Juventus he participated in several Italian championships during the 1920s and 1930s.
Pio Mazza worked as a stockbroker in Torino before and during WW II.

Pio Mazza était petit et peu trapu, mais solide.
Il joua longtemps au hockey et fut l'un des fondateurs de l'équipe de hockey de la Juventus Turin au début des années 1940 en compagnie de son frère Luigi, mais à l'époque il était passé en défense.
Après un temps d'inactivité il fit un retour en 1952 pour le HC Turin à 46 ans.
Comme son grand frère Guido il était excellent footballeur et joua à ses côtés le 20 avril 1924 contre l'Inter Milan (2-2) pour sa seule apparition avec la Juventus.
Il excellait également au ski, et était l'un des meilleurs skieurs du pays à cette époque.
Il pratiqua également le patinage de vitesse à un bon niveau. En 1925, il a terminé à la cinquième place (1000 m & 5000) des championnats nationaux.
Le cinquième sport où il excellait était le tennis. Comme membre du Tennis Club Juventus il participa à plusieurs championnats d'Italie dans les années 1920 et les années 1930.
Pio Mazza travailla comme agent de change à Turin avant et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
