Born in Scotland to Scottish parents. Moved to Canada (Toronto, Ontario) at the age of nine and learned to play hockey there.
Scored 73 (44+29) career points in 180 games. Played several years in Great Britain.
He almost made the 1936 British Olympic team, but in the end he wasn’t chosen as it was thought that his vigorous playing style would be too big a risk.
Retired in 1939.
The last thirteen years he was the district manager for Lincoln Electric Co.
Died as a result of a heart attack (Myocardial Infarction) at the age of 47.
He was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital, but unfortunately his life could not be saved.

Il aurait pu participer aux Jeux de 1936 avec la sélection britannique, mais il ne fut finalement pas appelé car son style de jeu vigoureux fut considéré comme risqué par les sélectionneurs.
Retraité en 1939.
Durant les treize dernières années de sa vie, il fut responsable de district pour Lincoln Electric Co.
Mort d'un infarctus du myocarde à 47 ans, transporté en urgence à l'Hôpital Général de Vancouver sans être sauvé.
