Strategially smart player with excellent skating technique.
Learned to skate on the local pond. First emerged on the first team as a 14 year old in January 1934.
Loyal to České Budějovice for his entire playing career (120 games, 67 goals). Captained for many years.
Represented Czechoslovakia 15 times (8 goals).
In 1948 he escaped death when his visa was cancelled the night before his departure to Paris.
Several of his teammates from the national team perished when their plane crashed somewhere over the Channel.
Retired in 1957 and became a hockey coach.
He turned down offers to coach the Czechoslovakian national team in 1958 and the German club Rosenheim because he didn’t want to leave České Budějovice.
Also an excellent football player and also competed in table tennis, tennis, athletics and chess.
Worked in the construction business and was involved in the construction of the local ice hockey arena.

Joueur tactiquement intelligent possédant une excellente technique de patinage.
Il a appris à patiner sur les étangs locaux et est apparu en équipe première à 14 ans en janvier 1934.
Fidèle à České Budějovice tout au long de sa carrière (120 matchs, 67 buts), capitaine de son club durant de nombreuses saisons.
15 sélections avec la Tchécoslovaquie (8 buts).
En 1948 il échappa de peu à la mort alors que son visa a expiré la nuit avant un départ à Paris.
Plusieurs de ses coéquipiers de sélection sont morts dans l'accident d'avion sur la Manche.
Retraité en 1957, devenu entraîneur de hockey.
Il a refusé des offres pour prendre en main la sélection en 1958 ou encore le club allemand de Rosenheim car il ne voulait pas quitter České Budějovice.
Également excellent footballeur, il a participé à des compétitions de tennis de table, de tennis, d'athlétisme et d'échecs.
Il travaillait dans une entreprise de construction et a participé à bâtir la patinoire locale.
