First played ice hockey in the USA. His family moved to Umeå, Sweden, then to Broomfield, Colorado in 2010 when his dad landed a job there.
Mostly a left wing, but also a center at times. Quick and fleetfooted player with a good wristshot. Good understanding of the game.
His older brother Gustav, also a pro hockey player, made his NHL debut on November 19, 2015.
After USHL and College (University of Nebraska), Fredrik moved back to Sweden in 2019 - with his American wife - to play in the Swedish Elite League.
Returned to North America - where his parents still lived - in 2022 and signed an NHL contract with Dallas Stars.
Signed for two years with Zug in 2024 but the Swiss club bought him out of his contract after one year.

Il a commencé le hockey sur glace aux États-Unis. Sa famille est rentrée en Suède à Umeå, puis repartie en 2010 à Broomfield (Colorado) où son père trouva un travail.
Son frère aîné Gustav, également joueur de hockey professionnel, fit son apparition en NHL le 19 novembre 2015.
Ailier gauche et parfois centre, Fredrik Olofsson est un joueur rapide et vif au bon tir du poignet. Bonne compréhension du jeu.
Après l'USHL et la NCAA (Université du Nebraska), il rentra en Suède en 2019 - avec sa femme américaine - pour connaître le championnat élite national.
Retourné en Amérique du Nord - où ses parents habitent encore - en 2022 en signant un contrat NHL avec les Stars de Dallas.
Il signa pour deux ans à Zoug en 2024 mais son club suisse résilia son contrat au bout d'un an après analyse de sa saison.
