Acrobatic goaltender who on many nights was Japan’s best player.
Thrived under heavy workload, and as the Japanese defense had a hard time fending off the bigger international opponents, Otsubo was really kept busy on many nights.
Voted as the best goaltender and was an All-Star at the 1973 Pool B World Championship tournament.
He had 364 shots against him in that tournament, making 338 saves, a 92,85 Save %.
In one of the games against USA he made an incredible 82 saves.

Gardien acrobatique qui fut le meilleur joueur japonais bien des soirs.
Otsubo brillait quand il avait beaucoup de travail et comme la défense japonaise avait du mal à repousser les plus gros adversaires, il fut souvent très occupé.
Meilleur gardien et choisi dans l'équipe-étoile des Mondiaux B de 1973.
Il fit face à 364 lancers lors de ce tournoi, réalisant 338 arrêts, soit un pourcentage de 92,85%.
Dans le match face aux États-Unis, il réalisa 82 arrêts.
Dans l'équipe-type du championnat japonais en 1969, 1970, 1973 et 1974.
