His father Dejan Bikár played ice hockey and his mother Lili Sárkány won championships in tennis.
Peter Bikár was discovered when old international Béla Háray visited his father in 1957 to get his teeth fixed. In the ensuing conversation Dejan Bikár told Háray that his son was a pretty good skater. Háray said that his son should come by the hockey stadium for a try out.
Really good playmaker. Had a good backhand because he also played tennis since he was 10.
Began playing for Budapest Vasutas SC from 1961 to 1970. Then played for Ferencváros TC between 1971-75 (four-time Hungarian champion). From 1976 to 1979 he played for Székésféhrvar Volán. Finished playing for Pomáz (Div.2) between 1981-84.
Officially represented Hungary 92 times, but his mother who followed her son closely had 99.
Went on to coach in hockey, including the Hungarian national team between 1983-1985.
He didn't ask for a salary because he was a dentist just like his father.

Son père Dejan Bikár était dentiste et hockeyeur, sa mère Lili Sárkány a remporté des compétitions de tennis.
Peter Bikár a été découvert quand l'ancien joueur international Béla Háray a rencontré son père en 1957 pour un rendez-vous dentaire. Dans la conversation Dejan Bikár a dit à Háray que son fils était plutôt bon patineur. Háray a répondu que son fils pouvait venir au stade de hockey pour faire un essai.
Très bon meneur de jeu. Il attribuait la qualité de son revers au tennis, qu'il pratiquait depuis ses 10 ans
Il a joué pour le Budapest Vasutas SC (1961-1970), Ferencváros (1971-1975, quatre fois champion de Hongrie), Székésféhrvar Volán (1976-1979) et a terminé sa carrière à Pomáz en division 2 entre 1981 et 1984.
Officiellement il compte 92 sélections, mais sa mère qui suivait sa carrière de près en a relevé 99.
Devenu entraîneur, et notamment sélectionneur national de la Hongrie - en tandem avec Gábor Boróczi - entre 1983 et 1985.
Il ne demandait pas de salaire pour cela car son métier de dentiste le rendait financièrement indépendant. Celui lui avait aussi donné une grande liberté de parole pendant sa carrière de joueur, organisant notamment une grève avec le FTC.
