Drafted in the NHL by Hartford Whalers in 1990 but never got the chance to play in the NHL.
Moved to Japan and became the top goal scorer in the Japanese hockey league three times.
Gained Japanese citizenship in 2003 and went on to represent Japan at the 2004 World Championships.
It was his second World Championship appearance, the first one coming nine years earlier with Canada.
Bright learned to speak, read and write fluently in Japanese after having spent more than a decade there.
Scored 1071 (473+598) career points in 1039 games.
Retired in 2008. Became manager of the Hockey Canada Foundation, and executive director of Karate Canada in 2022.

Parti au Japon et devenu le meilleur buteur de la ligue japonaise à trois reprises.
Il obtint la nationalité japonaise en 2003 ce qui lui permit de représenter le Japon aux Mondiaux de 2004.
Ce furent ses deuxièmes championnats du monde, ses premiers dataient de neuf ans auparavant avec le Canada.
Bright a appris à parler, lire et écrire couramment le Japonais en y ayant passé plus d'une décennie.
Auteur de 1071 (473+598) points en 1039 parties dans sa carrière.
Retraité en 2008. Directeur de la Fondation Hockey Canada, puis directeur technique de Karaté Canada en 2022.
