His father Viliam Čacho Sr was a player for Team Slovakia and a youth hockey coach in Trenčín, but he didn't push his son into ice hockey, a declining sport in Slovakia at the time. He made him play many sports such as football, tennis or basketball. At 10 he even was vice-champion of Slovakia in weightlifting. But the young Viliam always came back to ice hockey.
He played one year of junior hockey in Sweden, one in Finland (his best experience with Jokerit) and a few months in the USA.
Versatile player in many ways: he can play center or winger, in an offensive or defensive role, on the powerplay or in penalty killing.
Very fast skater. Good puck possession and good backchecking. Decent shot.

Son père Viliam Čacho Sr a été joueur international et entraîneur de jeunes à Trenčín, mais n'a pas poussé son fils à pratiquer le hockey, considéré alors comme un sport en déclin en Slovaquie. Il l'a inscrit dans de nombreux sports, du football au basket en passant par le tennis. À 10 ans, Viliam Jr a même été vice-champion de Slovaquie en haltérophilie, mais il a toujours fini par revenir au hockey.
Il a passé une saison junior en Suède, une en Finlande (avec les Jokerit, sa meilleure expérience selon lui) et quelques mois aux États-Unis.
C'est un joueur polyvalent de bien des manières : il peut jouer au centre à l'aile, dans un rôle offensif ou défensif, en avantage ou en désavantage numérique.
Patineur très rapide. Bonne possession de palet et bon repli défensif. Tir correct.
