Played professional football (soccer) in Montreal before embarking on a long playing career as an ice hockey goaltender.
He moved to Italy in 1980 and spent twelve seasons there until retiring from the game in 1992. During his years in Italy he established himself as a spectacular goaltender who could steal games on his own. Had a temper and was often penalized. He had fast reflexes and got better with a heavier workload. Won titles with three teams in Italy.
Was spectacular at the 1981 Pool B World Championship tournament, being the main reason why Italy got promoted. Had a 93,16 save %.
Became a goaltending coach in the NHL. A notable accomplishment during his tenure as a goaltending coach is the development of the "Corsi Rating". This indicator is essentially a plus-minus statistic that measures shot attempts. A player receives a plus for any shot attempt (on net, missed, or blocked) that his team directs at the opponent's net, and a minus for any shot attempt against his own net. This indicator is widely used in most NHL teams as it has shown a strong correlation to player and team success.

Commence au Supra de Montréal, en football, avant de se lancer pour de bon dans le hockey sur glace en tant que gardien. Il y fera histoire.
Barré en NHL malgré un petit passage avec les Oilers, il rejoint l'Italie de ses ancêtres en 1980, à 26 ans. Se faisant naturaliser immédiatement, il passera douze saisons en Serie A, remportant le titre avec trois clubs différents, et surtout intègrera la Squadra Azzurra où il polira sa réputation de gardien spectaculaire capable de gagner un match à lui seul. Excellents réflexes qu'il perfectionnera grâce à un travail acharné. Son caractère difficile était également notoire, tout comme ses fréquentes pénalités.
Son incroyable Mondial B 1981, avec un pourcentage d'arrêts de 93,16%, lancera l'Italie vers la montée cette année-là.
Après sa retraite en 1992, il devint entraîneur de gardiens. Est à l'origine du "Corsi". Cette statistique est une sorte de plus/minus indexé aux tirs. Un joueur reçoit un "+1" chaque fois que son équipe prend un lancer quand il est sur la glace, et un "-1" quand un lancer est dirigé vers son but. Cette stat a une forte corrélation avec le succès d'une équipe.
