He won his first French championship in 1923 as the team had a strong lineup, with legendary Léon Quaglia and Albert Hassler as the stars of the team. The Chamonix team went on to win seven straight league titles.

Cultivateur de profession. Henri participa au premier titre de champion de France avec Chamonix en 1923 au sein d'un effectif où figuraient les célèbres Léon Quaglia et Albert Hassler. Cette génération du HCC remporta sept championnats de France consécutifs.
Henri Couttet défila avec la délégation olympique lors de la cérémonie d'ouverture 1924 mais ne fut pas aligné en match.
