Voted best forward in the Soviet junior championship 1975.
Scored 440 points (250+190) in 501 Soviet league games with SKA Leningrad and CSKA Moscow.
Won eight consecutive Soviet and European Champions Cup titles in a row between 1980-87.
Represented Soviet Union 109 times (64 goals). One Canada Cup and two World Championship gold medals. Olympic champion in 1984.
Retired in 1996 after having played in the lower Swedish divions for Borås (326 pts – 185 games). Nicknamed “Drutten” in Sweden.
Died in his apartment in St.Petersburg when he ran out on insulin and sent his mother to get some more. Mother spent hours looking for insulin and when she finally found some and got home he was already dead (Hypoglycemic coma).
Inducted into the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame.

Mort dans son appartement de Saint-Pétersbourg alors qu'il était à court d'insuline et avait envoyé sa mère en chercher. Elle a passé des heures avant d'en trouver, et quand elle est rentrée, il était déjà mort (coma hypoglycémique).
Honoré en tant que Maître du sport de l'URSS.
