Not the best skater but worked hard to improve on that.
Played for (Melbourne) Tigers 1950-52, 1955-57 (as a player-coach) and Pirates IHC 1953-54, 1958-62. Won the Goodall Cup in 1954, 1955 and 1962.
He went to England in 1953/54 to play in the Southern Intermediate League. He worked in London for Dunkelman & Son Ltd.
Carried the Australian flag at the opening ceremony of the 1960 Winter Olympics.
He was a carpenter by trade.
Worked as St.Moritz Ice Rink manager in St.Kilda (Victoria, Australia) when it closed in 1982.
The Vic Ekberg Trophy is the premiership award of the IHV Pee Wee junior grade.
Awarded Life Membership of Ice Hockey Victoria in recognition of his contribution to the sport of ice hockey in Victoria.
