Started playing ice hockey relatively late at the age of 12.
Developed into an elegant player with incredible speed.
Had a patented move where made a short-long-short turn, before turning on the speed again.
Many defensemen had trouble with that move and his ability to shift speed in his skating.
Represented Czechoslovakia 50 times (24 goals). Scored 158 league goals.
Also a decent football player. Became a hockey coach after his playing career that ended in 1962.
Worked as a school professor. He eventually succumbed to a serious kidney disease.

Il a commencé le hockey relativement tard à 12 ans.
Devenu un joueur élégant avec une vitesse incroyable.
Sa marque de fabrique était un mouvement avec un virage court-long-court, avant de réaccélérer.
Beaucoup de défenseurs étaient en difficulté face à ce mouvement et à sa capacité à changer sa vitesse de patinage.
50 sélections pour la Tchécoslovaquie (24 buts). 158 buts en championnat.
C'était aussi un footballeur de niveau correct. Il est devenu entraîneur de hockey après l'arrêt de sa carrière en 1962.
Il travaillait comme professeur d'école. Il a succombé à une grave maladie des reins.
