Highly skilled player who was a speedy skater and had a lot of smarts on the ice..
Played his club hockey for Ilves Tampere between 1942-53, scoring 119 (80+39) career points with them in 80 games.
Once scored eight goals in a league game, which still is a record. Finnish champion 1946, 1947, 1950 and 1951.
Played on the ”H-ketjun” (H-Line) together with Aarne Honkavaara and Yrjö Hakala. Represented Finland 28 times (12+3).
He was an electrical engineer and the first covered ice stadium in Finland, completed in 1965, the Tampere Ice Stadium, got its electrical and lighting design engineered by Havulinna’s office.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Il a marqué une fois huit buts en un match, un record qui tient toujours. Champion de Finlande 1946, 1947, 1950 et 1951.
Il jouait sur la H-ketjun ("ligne H") d'Ilves avec Aarne Honkavaara et le jeune Yrjö Hakala. 28 sélections en équipe de Finlande (12+3).
Il était ingénieur en électricité. La première patinoire couverte de Finlande, construite en 1965 à Tampere, a eu ses installations électriques et son éclairage conçus par le bureau de Havulinna.
Intronisé parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijona, numéro 13).
