Position : LW

24-04-1970 Huddinge, Stockholm, SWE

Youth team / club formateur : Västerås IK

Born in the Stockholm suburb of Huddinge but moved to Västerås at the age of one. Between the age of three and nine he lived in Skultuna outside of Västerås. Moved back to Västerås at the age of nine and began playing hockey. Emerged as a talented junior, leading his team Västerås IK to two junior titles. Good skater with fine balance and strength on his skates. Developed into a player with nice leadership qualities in later years.
Made his debut at the World Championships in 1993 playing on the fourth line together with Stefan “Skuggan” Nilsson and Janne Larsson. His career highlight was playing alongside his childhood idol Mats Näslund at the 1994 Olympics. The third guy on the line was Challe Berglund. Suffered a knee injury after only four shifts at the 1994 World Championships when he was hip checked by Norway's Tommy Jakobsen. As a rookie in the NHL he mostly played on a checking line together with Craig MacTavish and Mark Lamb.
Played a few seasons in Finland for Jokerit where he played on a line together with Otakar Janecky and Mika Nieminen during his first year there. He also played in Switzerland and considered scoring four goals in his first game there being one of the best feelings he ever had as a player. He won gold, silver and bronze medals at the World Championships and an Olympic gold. Suffered from an irregular heartbeat after a game and had to get electric shocks to restore it.
Scored 773 (368+405) career points in 1004 games. Retired in 2009. Became a junior coach in Västerås and worked with marketing.
NHL totals: 56-7-6-13
