One of the best conditioned players of his time, regularly being on top at the yearly physical tests. Very solid defenseman with good overall skills. Didn’t shy away from body contact and had good passing skills. Minnesota North Stars wanted him to play for them in 1986 (drafted 1982).
Had three knee operations late in his career. Represented Czechoslovakia 173 times (21 goals). Retired in 1992. Lived for a year in Florida where he engaged in his favorite pastime, fishing. Worked on a project for the European Union, trying to get companies to hire unemployed people.
Inducted into the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame.

Il se distinguait par sa condition physique, exceptionnelle pour l'époque. Ce défenseur complet et solide dominait tous les tests d'aptitude en la matière. Ne fuyait jamais un duel et offrait d'excellentes passes. Les Minnesota North Stars le draftèrent en 1982 et tentèrent de le mettre sous contrat en 1986.
Ralentit en fin de carrière à cause de trois opérations du genou. Tira sa révérence à 33 ans sur 173 sélections nationales et 21 buts. Il prit une année sabbatique en Floride pour s'y adonner à la pêche. Revenu en Europe, il travailla sur un projet de l'Union Européenne destiné à favoriser l'emploi des chômeurs.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey tchèque.
