Highly skilled center with strong leadership abilities and character. Scored a total of 1036 career points (330+706) in 809 games.
Retired in 1965. Became a successful hockey coach after his playing career. In 1976 Kromm led Winnipeg Jets to the Avco Cup championship in the WHA. He also served as an assistant coach for Canada at the inaugural Canada Cup in 1976. In 1978 he became the first coach of the Detroit Red Wings to win the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year.
His son Richard played 10 years in the NHL and his grandson Alex, Richard's son, is also a hockey player.
Passed away from complications of colorectal cancer.

Centre de grand talent au caractère affirmé. 1036 points (330+706) en 809 matches officiels au cours d'une carrière dans les ligues pros canadiennes achevée en 1965.
Devenu un entraîneur à succès, d'abord en emmenant les Winnipeg Jets vers la victoire en 1976 dans l'éphémère WHA, ensuite en tant qu'assistant-coach pour le Canada lors de la première Coupe Canada et, enfin, en étant nommé entraîneur de l'année de NHL (Trophée Jack Adams) en 1978 alors qu'il entraînait les Red Wings, une première pour la franchise.
Son fils Richard a lui aussi été hockeyeur de haut niveau (cinq saisons pleines en NHL) et son petit-fils Alex joue également (WCHL).
Décédé à 82 ans des suites d'un cancer colorectal.
