Younger brother of Reijo Laksola. Debuted at 5 with Koo-Vee. Also played football until 16.
Often used to quarterback the blueline. Nevertheless he didn't have a strong shot because he prefered to use a short stick in order to handle the puck better.
Won four league titles in Finland in 1984, 1987, 1988 and 1989. Scored 413 points (127+284) in 686 SM-Liiga games, all with Tappara.
Spent two years (from 1996 to 1998) playing for Eisbären Berlin. With a teammate he bought a horse (Zauber Tornado) who won 9 times in 25 races.
Spent a few months in Graz, Austria, before the club went into bankruptcy, forcing him back to Tappara.
His linemate since childhood Jari Grönstrand invited him to finish his career with his team Reims. After being French champion as a player in 2000 he succeeded Grönstrand behind the bench and won a second title in 2002 when he was named coach of the year.
Represented Finland 59 times, scoring 14 points (5+9).
Had three children with his wife Leena: first Hanna then twins Mikko and Emma.

Frère cadet de Reijo Laksola, il débute à 5 ans à KooVee, le troisième club de Tampere. Il a pratiqué le football en parallèle jusqu'à 16 ans.
Efficace en supériorité où il était souvent utilisé en maître à jouer depuis la ligne bleue grâce sa vision du jeu. Il n'avait pas un gros slap en revanche car il privilégiait une crosse courte pour dribbler et manier le palet.
Quatre fois champion de Finlande en 1984, 1987, 1988 et 1989. Auteur de 413 points (127+284) en 686 matches de SM-Liiga, tous avec Tappara.
Il joue deux ans (de 1996 à 1998) aux Eisbären de Berlin. Avec un coéquipier il acquiert en Allemagne un cheval de trot attelé (Zauber Tornado) qui remporte 9 victoires en 25 courses.
Il passe quelques mois en Autriche à Graz avant que des difficultés financières ne le fassent rentrer à Tappara.
Son ancien partenaire de la ligne depuis l'enfance Jari Grönstrand l'invite à finir sa carrière à Reims qu'il aide à remporter le championnat de France 2000. Il lui succède ensuite derrière le banc et conduit les Flammes Bleues à leur second titre en 2002 en étant élu meilleur entraîneur de la ligue.
International finlandais 59 fois, auteur de 14 points (5+9).
Connu pour son humour. Marié avec Leena, trois enfants, Hanna puis les jumeaux Mikko et Emma.
