A classic puck-moving defenceman with beautiful skating and excellent skills and hockey IQ.
Creative on the blueline with a powerful shot. Not very strong and physical without the puck.
At 20 he worked in a sawmill and played amateur hockey for his local team KPK in Finnish fourth division. His teammates persuaded him to go for a tryout with closer Mestis team (KeuPa) and he started a professional career.
Played his first game with Finland on his 25th birthday, only three months after his Liiga debut.
Named league MVP in 2024/25 with a record voting after he became the first defenceman to top scoring in 50-year league history.
Signed a NHL contract with the Edmonton Oilers afterwards.

Un défenseur offensif de facture classique avec un beau patinage, de la technique et de l'intelligence avec le palet.
Créatif à la ligne bleue où il dispose aussi d'un lancer puissant. Pas très fort ni physique dans le jeu défensif.
À 20 ans il travaillait dans une scierie et jouait en amateur pour son club local KPK en quatrième division. Ses coéquipiers le conavinquirent de faire un essai avec le club pro le plus proche (KeuPa, en Mestis).
Débuts en équipe de Finlande le jour de ses 25 ans, trois mois seulement après avoir intégré la Liiga.
À sa seconde saison dans l'élite, en 2024/25 il devient le premier défenseur à terminer meilleur marqueur en 50 ans d'histoire de la ligue et est élu meilleur joueur avec un nombre record de votes.
Il signe ensuite un contrat NHL pour les Oilers d'Edmonton.
