Very good shooter. Played his entire career for Cracovia Kraków where he debuted on the senior team, December 28, 1927.
Up until 1937 he was the all-time leader for the club with 97 goals in 107 games.
Longtime captain of the Cracovia club. Represented Poland 66 times (20 goals).
During WW II he was arrested by the Germans and while he was transported on a train to the concentration camp in Auschwitz, a German guard approached him, saying: "I don’t know if you recognize me, but I was on the German team that played against you. I haven’t locked the door to the wagon, when you feel ready to jump, flee".
Marchewczyk did jump out and that most likely saved his life.
On one more occasion was he saved because of his hockey career.
In 1943 he and his pregnant wife were apprehended by German soldiers and as the men and women were about to be separated by the soldiers, Marchewczyk recognized one of the soldiers as being a member of the 1936 German Olympic ice hockey team, thanks to that the couple were let go.
He was an architect and was responsible for having built the ice hockey arena in Kraków 1971.
Awarded the Kalós Kagathós medal (1994) for his accomplishments in the sport.

Très bon tireur. Il joua toute sa carrière au Cracovia Kraków où il débuta en équipe senior le 28 décembre 1927.
Jusqu'en 1937 il fut meilleur marqueur de son club avec 97 buts en 107 matchs.
Longtemps capitaine du club de Cracovie. 66 sélections en équipe de Pologne (20 buts).
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale il fut arrêté par les Allemands, et pendant le convoi vers le camp de concentration d'Auschwitz, un soldat allemand s'est approché de lui et lui dit : "Je ne sais pas si vous me reconnaissez, mais j'étais dans l'équipe allemande qui a joué contre vous. Je n'ai pas verrouillé la porte du wagon, quand vous vous sentez prêt à sauter, fuyez".
Marchewczyk sauta en dehors du train, qui le conduisait à une mort certaine.
Ce ne fut pas la seule fois où il dut la vie au hockey.
En 1943 sa femme enceinte et lui-même ont été appréhendés par des soldats allemands et quand les hommes furent séparés des femmes par les soldats, Marchewczyk reconnut l'un de ces derniers comme un hockeyeur de l'équipe olympique d'Allemagne lors des Jeux de 1936. On le laissa partir ainsi que son épouse.
Il était architecte et a notamment conçu la patinoire de Cracovie en 1971.
Il a remporté la médaille Kalós Kagathós (en 1994) pour ses travaux dans le sport.
